For generations, women’s health has been both celebrated and sidelined honoured in words, but often neglected in action. From underfunded maternal health to the silence surrounding PCOS and menopause, the healthcare system has long overlooked the unique needs of women.
But today, a new wave of changemakers is rewriting this narrative. Across India, women-led platforms are building solutions that not only address physical wellbeing but also promote access, equity, and awareness. These innovations remind us that women’s health is not just about care it’s about choice, dignity, and empowerment.
Here are five powerful initiatives leading this change.
🌸 1. Newmi Care — From Crisis to Continuity in Women’s Health
When Aditi Mittal was diagnosed with breast cancer twice once at 26 and again after becoming a mother she realised how broken women’s healthcare systems could be. This experience became the seed for Newmi Care, founded with her husband, Sanchit Agarwal, in 2022.
With 10 women’s health clinics in the Delhi-NCR region, Newmi Care aims to shift healthcare from reactive to preventive. It integrates clinics, corporate wellness partnerships, and an expansive marketplace offering over 10,000 health and wellness products from 300+ brands.
Newmi Care is also the first women’s health startup linked to the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), creating a seamless system for medical record management and accessibility. Through collaborations with companies like Deloitte, American Express, and Philips, it ensures that women’s wellbeing becomes a workplace priority too.
🤖 2. Aaroogya AI Foundation — Harnessing AI to Bridge Healthcare Gaps
Founded by sisters Dr. Priyanjali and Shyanjali Datta, the Aaroogya AI Foundation was born from personal experiences with health struggles and systemic neglect. Their flagship innovation, MyHealthline, is an AI-powered, multilingual health companion designed for women in underserved communities.
Community Health Workers use the app to gather comprehensive health data from menstrual to mental health and generate intuitive, AI-driven insights. So far, Aaroogya has screened over 135,000 women across India and East Africa, detecting early-stage diseases like cancer and diabetes in over 1,700 cases.
Their next step? Aaha a voice-first, multilingual AI assistant that aims to train 100,000 CHWs and reach half a million women by 2030, proving that technology can be both empathetic and empowering.
🌿 3. Miyara Health — Navigating Menopause and Midlife with Compassion
When scientists Gayatri Muthukrishnan and Sanjana Rao connected on LinkedIn, they shared a common frustration: women’s midlife health, especially menopause, was widely misunderstood and under-discussed.
Their response was Miyara Health, launched in 2022 a digital platform that helps women manage perimenopause and menopause through AI-driven assessments, personalised programs, and a vibrant community of shared experiences.
From symptom management to corporate wellness collaborations, Miyara Health combines science, empathy, and sisterhood — making midlife a time for self-discovery, not silence.
💪 4. Gytree — Building a Complete Ecosystem for Women’s Wellness
Founded by Swarnima Bhattacharya in collaboration with Shaili Chopra (SheThePeople), Gytree is creating an entire ecosystem around women’s health.
It integrates diagnostics, consultations, and curated wellness products for every stage of a woman’s life from puberty to menopause. Whether it’s PCOS, hormone health, or gut health, Gytree connects users with over 100 specialists, including doctors, therapists, and nutritionists.
With corporate tie-ups with L&T, HealthKart, and BharatPe, Gytree is not just treating symptoms it’s transforming the culture of women’s healthcare into one that’s continuous, connected, and compassionate.
🌼 5. Menoveda — Blending Ayurveda with Modern Menopause Care
When serial entrepreneur Tamanna Singh struggled with perimenopause symptoms, she found few natural solutions and even less awareness. Determined to fill this void, she founded Menoveda, an Ayurvedic wellness brand dedicated to menopause management.
Through extensive surveys involving 20,000 women, Menoveda identified the lack of understanding surrounding menopause a stage every woman experiences but few talk about.
Its Ayurvedic formulations like Amaya, Akira, Asaya, and Aadya address issues like hot flashes, joint pain, and fatigue, offering holistic care that honours both body and tradition.
